Yet another issue with Chinese imports. "Thomas the Train" toys imported from China are tainted with lead based paint. First the Chinese put antifreeze into containers that are supposed to be glycerin, tainted pet food causing kidney failure is sent here, and the list goes on and on. It's just amazing that we are doing business with them. Who can blame them for not caring though? We're exploiting them with slave labor standards and they are poisoning us. But, on the bright side, rich businessmen and politicians are continuing to get richer! Yay! One more examples of our government not working for us. Next on the table, amnesty for lawbreakers!

I hadn’t heard of that yet. All Thomas the Train toys? I agree with you on the rest.

I think that lead poisoning is very serious and all parents should be aware of it. My daughter had lead poisoning for almost 3 years and when my son was born he had it also for almost 2 years. Getting blood drawn every 6-8 weeks in young children is not fun and there is really not a whole lot than can be done to get rid of it. We had to move two times and throw away all there toys and it had to leave there system on it’s own so I think that is an awful thing that the toys have that in them.

This is all about greed. Nothing indicates lack of knowledge so I would like to see Wal-Mart as well as any other product seller which is found to contain lead and not labeled as such get fined so badly they would have to start testing before selling.
My new granddaughter had lead based paint bibs and I am furious.

I absolutely agree with you. Aside from businessmen and politicians getting profits from letting low quality products flood the markets, I think parents should take more responsibility and do their research before making a decision as to where and which toys to buy for their children. As parent myself I made my research and buy toys for my children (3 and 6) from the trusted store, who does their own selection to carry only high quality toys mostly made in US or Europe.
For example of trains - the toys on this page are all quality handmade in Montana:
Be aware, parents, and make the right choices!

All I can say is listen to the Country Song by Bucky Covington. “A Different World” That song is so true and if things would go back to that we wouldn’t worry about this stuff so much.
