for a 2 month old, a good thing to get is a play mat for the floor. some play music and have toys that hang from them.

Well, I have two kids 4 and 10 mo, Neither one really played with toys at all. My 10 month old will occasionally play with something that fits in his hand and makes noise, or that he can chew on, but really there was never anything special they always played with..

Anything that makes noise is the way to go. She is only two months old so she can’t do all that much. A play gym where she can lie on her back is great. She will grow with that. Also Baby Einstein videos are great. Try making simple toys as well. You will learn fast that kids play with everything but all the expensive crap. When my daughter was young nothing was cooler than sticking clothes pins into a soda bottle or digging in a bowl of rice with her hands. Think outside the box and forget spending so much money on ‘cool’ toys.

At 2 months they need gentle sensory experience. My son’s favorite the early months was silk scarves he could wave around, and stuffed animals. He liked watching a mobile too. Soon after that he loved his rattle, a traditional silver one.

The playmat is a really good idea. She is discovering her hands so you want to give her opportunities to use them. I bought a book that has textures in it that my baby can feel. They get the benefit of reading and of using their hands. Also in about a month or so, look into a jumperoo. They have all kinds of toys around it so the baby can practice with their hands and they absolutely love jumping up and down. My baby is only four months so that is where we are at with toys. Hope that helps!!

A 2 month old doesn’t really need toys she can play with yet.. accept for small and lightweight rattles so she can begin to grasp objects. Sounds and lights type toys are also good at this age, something she can listen to and look at.
My son’s favorite items at age 2 months:
His stuffed sea otter with attached velvet blankie
Baby Einstein Neptune Sea Crib Toy
Fisher Price Papasan Swing

You know,…….a young child has no preference as to a must have. No such thing. Interaction with others is the biggy. Replaces any toy. At 2 months they are not creative….heck, they are discovering the fact they have toes, and they move, independently. C’mon, just the simple things to us adults is new first time discoveries for them. A ball, a stuffed toy, that kind of stuff. Remember, your first crayon? But you were already a couple of years old because the walls were decorated thruout the house. Much better than the coloring book.

My 3 1/2 month old loves her play mat with the toys dangling above, she also loves her baby TAD leapfrog (Its a frog stuffed animal that sings and talks about letters and stuff) she likes to look at the lights when it sings.
and the most recent toy i just bought her is like the gloworm but its GLO SEAHORSE and its SOO cute she even grabs it its so adorable!

a tummy time mat is a deffant must, look for the ones with things that hang down from bars on the top so she can kick, they also make kick mats that sound like a piano.
another thing my son loved at 2 to 3 months was soft blocks, they have foam inside of them, they will be good up to a year and ahalf so it wont be one of them things that they only use for a month be4 they out grow it.
exacaucer(sp?) it helps with the standing and balance, big help when ya gotta do daily stuff like dish’s, laundry, vacume, i know mine was a big help. edit- i for got to say that this is for when they git to be like 5 mts old.
last but not least a pack-n-play, same concept as the exacucer but for rite now and as they grow, great for travel, keeping them outta trouble and time out’s, it has enuff room for them to play with toys, roll over, and take naps.
hope this helped you out my son loved them, also check in to disposable one time use spoons, for when she starts eating baby food, i always kept 4 of them in the diamper bag, you can through them out when done or wash them very durable and easy to eat offa, and easy on your hand while feeding. (target always has great deals on baby food and if you want more bang for your buck target brand diampers 13.00 for 104 of them.) best of luck and enjoy
